Flathead River
Happy Independence Day and God Bless America!!!
Since our last blog, the river has actually jumped back up about 2000 cfs sitting in the 14k range. Due to the combo of rain and Hungry Horse Dam letting water out. The days the river bumped up, the fish were definitely a little finicky. But all is well, especially when it starts to warm up in the late mornings. The afternoon fishing has been picking up significantly. These local cutty’s are still digging the 2nd half of the day for the best dry fly action.
We are still throwing foam bugs. golden stone patterns etc.. some guys are sticking to the mayfly game. Both work when fished in the right spots mid-depth drops and riffles.
This has turned out to be a great year for water..we got it! We are looking forward to cooler water temps through July..keeping our fish happy!

Also, we have been putting a good amount of trips on both Flathead and Whitefish Lake. If you want to mix it up and go jig and or troll for some big lake trout give us a call! The bite has been rewarding! We have had success trolling about 65 ft deep on the east side of the delta.

Pete’s Tackle – gold & black wooly bugger.
