9 Gift ideas for the fisherman on your list

It is hard to believe that Christmas and the New Year 2022 are right around the corner. It seems the older I get, the time goes even faster. For the people out there like myself that still haven’t finished their Christmas gift shopping, here is a list of some of our favorite fishing items for that special someone in your life.

1.

Clear water rod and reel combo

Orvis Clearwater Rod and Reel Combo

$327.00

This rod/reel combo is a great mid-grade fly-fishing setup.  Perfect for the person in your life who has been wanting to spend more time on the river in 2022. A fishing rod truly is the gift that keeps on giving(think jelly of the month club) creating a lifetime of memories catching fish.

We recommend getting the 9 foot  5 weight rod and size II reel for most trout fishing in our area.

2.

Fish pnd fishing sling pack

The perfect-sized fish bag for walk and wade fishing. This pack has tons of pockets and cubbies and places to clip on all your tools and accessories. The sling-style lets you easily slide the pack to your front for changing flies, then slide to your back while fishing to get it out of the way. We love Fishpond gear!

3.

fishpond guide net

Another great gear item from Fishpond. These nets are built sturdy yet lightweight and have a basket big enough for a dream-worthy Brown Trout, and they float.

4.

Montana state flag fly box

Montana Fly Company makes a ton of these fly boxes in all sorts of awesome patterns and fish pictures. We happen to love this one with the Montana State flag and state outline! These fly boxes make the perfect gift for your fly fishing buddy or even as a secret Santa present. Bonus points if you stash a couple of the essential flies for your angler friend: Chubby Chernobyl, Purple Haze, Pheasant Tail Jig, and Morrish Hoppers.

5.

costa sunglasses

Quality sunglasses are an essential tool in any fisherman’s box. Polarized lenses really make a huge difference in getting rid of the glare on the water surface. Without good glasses on you might feel like you are missing out on the show, especially when the dry fly bite is on!

6.

Fifty places to fly fish before you die

A bucket list of fishing holes or maybe just a little inspiration for a friend debating a trip to the Keys in search of the elusive Permit. This would also make a great coffee table book full of stunning fishing photos.

7.

Simms rainjacket

Every fisherman needs a good quality rain jacket, especially if you are anywhere near Montana. It’s an age-old saying around here that if you don’t like the weather just wait 5 minutes and that’s particularly true in the springtime. Simms is a tried and true brand in fishing gear making dependable and long-lasting jackets and waders. We also love that the majority of their products are manufactured in the U.S.A.

8.

Gorgeous Cutty

Quality time on the water

Quality time on the water with your friends and family is perhaps the best gift that a person can give and it’s FREE! We always say the hardest part about going fishing is just getting there. Once you are waist-deep in your favorite stream hooked up to a scrappy Rainbow you wonder why you don’t do this more often. Give this gift abundantly and make this next year one that you are proud of.

9.

Last but not least, give the gift of letting someone else do all the work and buy a Bent Fly Fishing gift certificate for a guide trip. Our fun and knowlegable guides show up with all the gear needed for a day of fishing. They offer patient instructions for beginners and assist experts in making a memorable Montana fishing experience.
