TYPES OF GUIDED FISHING TRIPS THAT WE OFFER

-MONTANA FISHING INFORMATION-

At Bent Fly Fishing, our main goal is to help anglers of all types feel welcome!

We offer a variety of trips to create the best experience possible. There are several things to consider when planning your Montana adventure and getting out on the water is at the top of the list. First, it is best to have a good idea of who in your group wants to go. This can help decide how long a trip would be best for everyone.

Our most commonly booked trip is the half day fly fishing float trip. You will be on the water for about 4 hours. This is a great introduction to fly fishing for the newbie and also perfect for those with shorter attention spans.

Now if you decide that you want to commit your whole day to being on the water, then you are going to want to book a full day float trip. Generally, folks who have brushed up a bit on their fishing skills will choose to book these trips.

We outfit full day trips on the Flathead River or Swan River if you are looking to stay close to town. We also offer the chance to explore one of the other rivers in this corner of our state.

The Clark Fork River, the Blackfoot River, and the Missouri River all offer a little something extra to the angler willing to commit a little more to drive time and put in the hours on the water.

Whichever destination you decide we will show you a truly memorable experience!

HALF AND FULL DAY FLOAT TRIPS

FLATHEAD RIVER

The Flathead River flows through the Flathead Valley passing through the towns of Columbia Falls and Kalispell, Montana. The river follows the base of the Swan Mountain Range that lines the eastern edge of the Valley. Even though you are on the outskirts of town, homes are absent for the majority of your float. The wide crystal-clear water of the Flathead River varies in depth as you make your way downriver. The bottom is covered in thousands of multi-colored river rocks creating a stunning contrast.

FULL DAY FLOAT TRIP

BLACKFOOT RIVER

The Blackfoot River is a gorgeous freestone we fish between Missoula and Kalispell, Montana. This river is home to rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, bull trout, and mountain whitefish. The views on each section that we float are incredible and feel like true Montana landscape. Fishing here in the late spring and early summer there is a chance to hit the world-famous salmon fly hatch. And the hype is real. Watching trout eat these giant bugs has got to be one of our favorite things!

FULL DAY FLOAT TRIP

MISSOURI RIVER

The Missouri River is well-known in the angling community as Blue Ribbon trout water. While it fishes year round, we spend most of our time here in the spring months. When all the other freestones we fish are dealing with the rollercoaster of spring runoff, the Missouri offers its tailwater as an escape. Since the water that we fish flows directly out of Holter and Hauser Dams, the flows will remain fairly consistent and keep the water clear, patina not muddy brown.

FULL DAY FLOAT TRIP

CLARK FORK RIVER

The Clark Fork River is a little southwest of the Flathead Valley. A beautiful freestone that flows all the way to the Columbia River. The sections that we fish are between the towns of St. Regis and Paradise, Montana. This river fishes excellent during early to mid-summer. As we move into late summer with higher temperatures, this river calls for an early morning. However, you will not regret it because nothing beats dawn patrol. A float down this river will make you feel all the Montana vibes!

FULL DAY FLOAT TRIP

SWAN RIVER

The Swan River is a special place. Although maybe not for everyone. A trip here will bring you deeper into the wilderness and evoke feelings of stepping back in time. There is no cell phone service, no facilities, and a bit more work involved. On these trips, you will be in a rubber raft. This is so the boat can be pulled across gravel bars and over fallen trees. If you have some agility and an adventurous spirit this might be the trip for you. Be sure to get in contact early, our guides are limited on this particular river.

HALF AND FULL DAY TRIPS

LAKE FISHING TRIP

Our lake fishing trips are done primarily on Flathead Lake and Whitefish Lake. Both are located right in the Flathead Valley. These trips are conventional spin fishing gear instead of fly fishing. You will be jigging, trolling, or casting and reeling spinnerbaits. Fun for the whole family to get out on the water and try to catch your dinner. Our lake fishing boat perfectly fits 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small children. Nothing beats the views of the mountain ranges from out on the wide-open lake.
