Plan a Montana adventure to Glacier National Park in 2023

Enjoy your Montana experience as the locals do

Most folks fly into Glacier International Airport which is conveniently located between Kalispell, Whitefish, and Columbia Falls. Glacier National Park is about half an hour from the airport. This is considered the northern part of the Flathead Valley. Bigfork is further south but worth checking out. A cute town with shops and an amazing view of Flathead Lake.

[Whitefish, Kalispell, Columbia Falls, Bigfork] in northwest Montana, be ready to move. Our summers start around the beginning of July and only last until the middle of September if we are lucky. During these short months, we get in a year’s worth of sunshine and recreating.

“Must-Do” activities while in Montana

      • Fly fish. Trout thrive in the clean water that flows through our region. The high mountain winter snow feeds the tributaries as it melts keeping the water temperatures cold and the trout happy! Novice or experienced anglers will benefit when they book a guided fly fishing or spin fishing trip with Bent Fly Fishing
      • Ride horses. Go on a backcountry horseback trip at least once in your life. Horses take you and your gear deep into the woods to secluded destinations. It is also a unique way to experience what travel looked like for our ancestors.
      • Watch the sunset from the lake. Flathead Lake is the biggest in the area and fills the southern portion of the Flathead Valley from Polson to Somers. There are several accesses for boat launches and recreating. The sandy beach on Whitefish Lake downtown Whitefish is another excellent spot to watch the sunset.
      • Hike mountains. While Glacier National Park has hundreds of trails, there are also hundreds of people. The surrounding areas have an endless amount of hikes with fewer people. Check out Whitefish Trails or Jewel Basin.
      • BBQ on the deck. The sun lingers in the Montana sky late into the day. You will have plenty of time to go fishing, hike, swim, and grill steaks at sunset. Remember when I said to be ready to move?
      • Campfire under the stars. The perfect end to a day of adventuring is getting lost in the crackling of the campfire under a blanket full of stars. You roast a marshmallow and sandwich it between two graham crackers and a piece of Hershey chocolate for a smores delicacy.

This is the epitome of a Montana summer night.
