While most of the state is in the woods chasing deer and elk for our Montana general hunting season..

The weather has been super nice and very conducive to fishing. The local flathead has worked its way back into mostly a nymphing game. We are seeing some of those extra-big migratory west slope cutthroat trout.

Most of the action is coming on pink studs or worms. The smaller mayfly nymphs are definitely worth keeping in the mix, though. The chance for these above-average fish will stick around for the winter. Just look for the days where the temps bump up a bit.
