Flathead River Fishing Report
Spring runoff has definitely begun. We are not at the peak of it yet, but the freestone rivers are growing fast.
Our local Flathead River at this current moment is up just over 20000 CFS (cubic feet per second). Last we checked, it’s big and slightly green. There might be a very small window to sneak out there still and look for a big cutthroat trout.
Be very careful if you go float the river. The Flathead River can be deceiving. It’s big and flat in lots of places, but trust us that water is rolling fast. You will be fine, just pay attention!
And have fun.
A great option we have going on right now is targeting big pike on both the fly rod and conventional gear. We have had some very impressive fish hit the net in the last couple of days. If you’re in town and want to try something different, give us a call.. this is a trip worth trying.
Also, we have a few local lakes for some stillwater trout fishing. Mostly balanced leaches and chironomids.

Wolf Creek + Craig
Missouri River Fishing Report
If it’s a consistent trout you’re after, without question, the best option in the state right now is our favorite spring fishery — the mighty Missouri River.
We have boats going out daily out of Wolf Creek, Craig, and Cascade. Honestly, the whole river from Holter Dam all the way to Cascade has been fishing great! In the second half of the day, there have been lots of BWOs appearing on the surface. It’s definitely not amazing dry fly fishing yet. It’s around, though if you’re really looking….
If you’re looking to keep your rod bent, have no shame my fishy friends and do what I have been doing. Tie on a sow bug with a jig pt, split shot, and go have some fun!
We would love to get you out on one of our trips!! Call or email anytime. We look forward to hearing from you!!
