Here is your March 1st Fishing Report! First day of a new license year in Montana. It sure seems like March is going to come in like a lamb. Does that mean it will leave like a lion?? We will just have to wait and see…

Lots of change in the last couple weeks.. We went from our hardest part of winter with piles of snow and arctic temps… to today with a high near 50 and bright blue sky!

We went from ice fishing being the only option to being back on our local Flathead River! With a good push of water raising the river.. but not too much, just right, pushing some of our big migratory cutthroat through the system.

There has been some really great fish hitting the net the last few days!

Best rig is nymphing the big inside bends and slower drop offs. But absolutely keep your eye open for a dry fly opportunity during the peak heat of the day. You will make one look up! Honestly, these warm late winter/early spring days are probably our favorite time to fish our local Flathead.
