Flathead River Fishing Report

April showers bring May flowers! April overall has been pretty typical. Some of the most beautiful days of the year.. then we wake up to January conditions the next day.. April in Montana!

The local river has had a few blown-out days, but overall, it’s been great conditions. Lots of great fish are hitting the net. Most folks are definitely still nymphing for the most action, but there have been some small stone flies popping in the 2nd half of the day, smaller mayflies, and some midges.

Absolutely, if you want to feed a native cutthroat on a dry fly, it can be done! Let the water warm up a couple degrees and head out in search of a sipper… or cruise blind skwala and dropper.

They will eat it!

Missouri River Fishing Report

On the east side of the mountains. Our spring destination — the mighty Mo is getting better every day.

Lots of rainbows are still on their spawning beds…but every day, fish are creeping out of spawn.. brightening up, willing to feed and rip some line off the spool!

Streamer fishing has been hit and miss, but the “hit” days have been very rewarding!

Might find the brown trout of the year on the end of your line! “Pull and pray” strip strip boom!
