Ok, folks, our local Flathead is still fishing! Things have cooled down a bit, so it is definitely best to wait for a later start time. Target the warmest part of the day for your best chance at a rising cutthroat!
Most of our trips have moved east of the mountains lately, back on the mighty Missouri River. It’s been an awesome fall over there overall… but I would say a little unreasonably warm.
There are days when the fish seem to think it’s still summer… They are a little picky on some days then the next day is lights out.
We are nymphing mainly. Short leash about a 5-6ft rig and slight drop or riffle has been working well.
If it’s an extra bright day go up to the dam. There are fish deep in the ol’ faithful holes. Thanks, everyone.
