We’ll everyone the good news continues! The local flathead has been fishing very consistently. The extra-warm weather took a little break and brought some chillier, cloudy days. The fish were not quite as active but still plenty active enough for a great day on the water. Plus during those days we did accumulate a little snowpack! Much needed! We are currently sitting at 75% snowpack in the Flathead drainage. Definitely subpar…but we can work with this. One big high mountain storm could put us right where we need to be.

This coming week we are going to get those nice sunny warm days again. The native migratory cutthroat trout will be on the move so get out there and hunt one down. You might even get lucky and find a giant spring rainbow mixed in there!

If you feel like a little drive the Missouri River has been on fire.

Also, lots of lakes first ice off fishing is super fun. Dead drift a leech under an indicator and hold on!

Winter Fishing Info —- Find the winter holding water –

•   nice drops and deep inside-out bends.
•   fish 9.5 -10ft deep 1bb your favorite sww with a little pink beed hares ear jig.
•   or any of your favorite winter bugs.

     Pink is a great option (holy broken record) but it works!

  If you find one you can probably find another they stack up this time of year!

Multiple fish coming to the surface as well. We did not throw at them but they are catchable and around. Midge cluster or small adams will do the trick.
