Ok, it’s December 2nd, and big game season is officially over. It’s one of our favorite times of year but always kinda nice when it’s over… Going hard in the mountains for 5-6 weeks straight is such a privilege.. but it is also exhausting!
We decided to hit the river today to get a feel for her since we have been absent. We were pleased to find fish in the winter water. The go-to deep slow runs had what we were looking for ...lots of fish willing to bite our moderately well-placed drifts.
A size 16 hares ear with a pink translucent tungsten bead was the breadwinner today… and I expect that fly will produce fairly consistently through this winter.
We were really deep today — 11ft 2 bbs.
I am not sure I’m that was completely necessary… but we weren’t ticking bottom.. it seemed nonexistent so naturally, what do I do… longer, deeper!! And boom.. fish on!!
