Flathead River

It’s hard to believe the end of August is among us already. I must say this last week has felt more like the end of September, and we love it.

With the cool down, we have noticed a decrease in the terrestrial bite. You can still get fish on the hopper, ant, or beetle…..but it’s definitely not what it was. Things are transferring over a bit.

We have been seeing an assortment of different types of mayflies pop off the second half of the day. Also, we are noticing the fish are starting to show up in the slick soft tail outs of the holes and runs. As the water temp decreases the fish will creep out of the faster water and drop back to those tail outs.

Giving you the perfect opportunity to drift your favorite parachute down the bubble line and watch your day maker sip it down!

I saw my first Hecuba of the season a couple of days ago! One of our favorites! Big ol’ beautiful may fly. It won’t be long in certain spots the October caddis will make his first appearance. It does look like our temps are going to tick back up… so still have your hopper at the ready just know things are transitioning a bit.

Early morning dropper. Dry fly afternoons. Our favorite program. It beats the crowds and catches the fish. Thanks, everyone!

We have guides ready and would love to get you out!

Flathead Lake

Flathead Lake has been lots of fun for the conventional fishing angler. Trolling for big macks is really consistent right now. Also jigging for whitefish is a blast this time of year!!

Get it while the getting is good!

Stay BENT my fishy friends!
